Nick Thibault Championship Match 160lb

Nick Thibault takes the State Title of the 3A 160lb. Class. All three man, Nick Thibault, Riley Soward and Alex Thibault medal. Nick Thibault 1st Place 160lb, Riley Soward 125lb 3rd Place and Alex Thibault 130lb 5th place. "The boys did a phenomenal job," said Jack Thaw. To place 4th over all is outstanding for only three wrestlers on a team. Nick Thibault pinned all of his opponents at the State Meet, and his last two at regionals, 8 pins in a row. In the Fianl Match, Nick was leading 15-3 before Nick pinned Spencer Shirk of Norton. You may not have been ther, but HalsteadKansas.com was, so have fun watching the events that lead up to the final match for Nick Thibault.

Alex Thibault vs Mark Smith

In a spirited match between Alex Thibault and Mark Smith of Rossville, Smith receives an injury and defaults with 16 seconds in the 3rd period. Alex was don=dominating the match and handing Smith at will with a score of 6-2 when both wrestlers flew into the score table during a take down attempt. Smith's back was slammed into the table at the height of his hip causing an unrecoverable injury..... We applaud his efforts and wish him a speedy recovery.

Alex Thibault Rallies again to nab a win with a 4-0 decision against Clarke Kregg. Kregg fought valiantly defensive and almost put Alex to the mat. Alex responed with increased fervor and grit. Alex continues to leave it all out there and continues to go home with the pay!

Today is finals at the State Wrestling in Hays Kansas. Alex Thibault, with renewed energy and fire in his movement, wins by "Tech Fall" over Donovan Schamberger (31-9) of Hoxie, in the third period. Alex showed great skill in take down manuvers, while releasing the opponet to take him down again. Donovan was a well trained in shape and a very worthy opponent. A Technical Fall is a special category of win, like a TKO in boxing. In a Tech Fall you must be winning by a 15 point margin. Enjoy the photos.
